Roof Expert Witness & Litigation Consulting
Blake Snow is an experienced roof consultant and an IAUA Certified Appraiser and Umpire, with over 30 years of personal roofing experience. He provides litigation consulting for plaintiff and defense attorneys on roof disputes and has given deposition testimony in multiple cases.
Many roof cases start with documentation that wasn't prepared by a roof consultant: storm dates that aren't tied to the damage, photos that don't show water infiltration, and claims that include everything. Blake's reports document only legitimate damage, with the roof's age, condition, system, remaining life, deck and structure, all AC units and penetrations, and full specifications. If the roof doesn't support the case, he'll tell you early.
How Blake helps counsel
- Case review: early review of photos, reports, estimates and records to tell you what the roof issues are and where the case is strong or weak
- Site inspections: documented roof inspections with photos, roof plans and, where permitted, core cuts and infrared moisture surveys
- Causation and scope opinions: hail and wind damage vs. age, wear, prior repairs and installation defects; repairability; and the scope and cost of the work
- Written reports: clear reports that lay out what was examined, what was found and why the opinions follow
- Depositions: deposition testimony explaining the roof findings and opinions; Blake has given deposition testimony in multiple cases
- Rebuttal of opposing reports: technical review of the other side's roof reports, estimates and methods
- Mediation support: help explaining the roof issues so the parties can evaluate settlement
Experienced roof consultant, not engineer
Blake's opinions come from decades of installing, inspecting and evaluating roof systems. He is not an engineer and does not provide engineering services. If a case needs a licensed engineer, he will tell you.
